Nothing personal
I have a sealed copy though I have no idea whether it's red/yellow or plain black. Is there any way to tell without opening the package?
Gozragore
Never ceases to amaze how many complain about the pressing quality of modern coloured fancy splatter vinyl, when for not that much more & sometimes less, here's the original beautiful clean pressing. 32 years old, now warped, & mine still sounds clean & bright. The superior machines & heads used to press 80's USA vinyl are loooooooong gone now....
Ydely
GORGEOUS! Yes, there is a some noise between tracks (in the silent parts) but it's not that loud. The dynamics on this are insane, very good sound quality and packages as a whole.
Fato
Recieved my Red Splatter copy today, playing Lp 1 Side 2 as I type.Sounds VERY nice to me! Does it sound as Dynamic as an original Allen Toussaint 1975 Southern Nights Lp(which I have) probably Not,but it sounds VERY good for the $35 plus S&H price I paid on Mondo. Buy from Mondo with Confidence guys! Cheers! :)
Braned
received mine in the mail yesterday. ridiculous amount of surface noise, at least on the first record.
Fenrinos
Same experience here. My pressing is 50% analogue synth awesomeness and 50% annoying surface noise and minor warp. Is there a normal black pressing they would exchange it for? Couldn't see it listed.
Zyniam
A black wax version exists; try exchanging it if you bought directly through mondo, or if elsewhere return it if their policy allows.
Hirah
Same experience here. What a waste of money. Super disappointing.

SOUND QUALITY AND VERSIONS: The original LP's, CD's and cassettes have an edited soundtrack compared to all the music used in the film. La La Land records used all music from the film plus extras on their CD releases, but the sound quality seems rather flat and compressed. If you buy the Arrow Blu-Ray, it has the entire isolated score, in lossless, hi-res audio with no compression whatsoever. Or you could get the Mondo vinyl release. The La La Land CD is the best issue to go for if you want no fuss, but the flimsy CD cases rip the artwork inside, plus, the paper it is printed on goes wrinkly due to using cheap paper.

My biggest bitch about mondo is half the time they don't even tell you how many they are going to press per variant. So buyers like me go into panic mode buying from the website on a Wednesday at 12pm wondering if they pressed 500 or 3,000? Frustrating! I'd love to know if I have to act fast or can wait until my next paycheck.

Repress "Red vinyl with Splatter" goes on sale on wednesday at noon (ct)By the way.... are you really surprised??Some users should use their brain...Edit: still availabble here.https://mondotees.com/products/big-trouble-in-little-china-original-motion-picture-soundtrack-2xlp
Love Me
jesus christ. can somebody please talk about the quality of the pressing so we know whether or not it's even worth it?

I just recieved my Red Splatter copy from Mondo in the mail today.Spinning it as we speak.I didn't even give it a clean as my friend said you should do even with brand new Vinyl and it sounds GREAT! No,clicks,no pops, the Red Lp itself is relatively flat. Both Lp's come in nice Euro-cornered angled Poly-Lined Sleeves.I'm playing the 1st Lp on a 1978 Technics SL-B2 hooked up with a 2005 Harman Kardon Reciever through DCM Floor and Bookshelf Speakers if that tells you the Equipment I'm using to hear the Lp through.I don't have any Dynamic Range LP #'s compared to the original Cd or Original Lp but this new reissue SOUNDS VERY NICE!!!
Worla
My copy sounds better than my original. Minimal noise. Very happy
asAS
The copy I have is great. No hissing/pops and sounds great.

There's going to be a red vinyl version of this coming out through Mondo too so don't pay the flippers
Zehaffy
Fuck you flippers. Is anyone willing to sell this at a NON-asshole price?
Gadar
No worries. It’s sure to be out in a month w/ at least 5 represses on much less ugly colored vinyl (which is about as tired a gimmick as 3-D cinema).
Dream
Exactly. You can get mad at the flippers, or you can just make a decision to not play the game. I prefer the latter -- there are plenty of records out there worth buying at reasonable prices. Also, Mondo themselves encourage this flipper madness by all of their limited editions, colored pressings, etc.. I'd recommend not playing the game, AND not supporting Mondo and their cheap novelty pressings.

I understand people's frustration with high prices. but you do have to factor in price of admission and travel to the convention. i got mine from a friend at the con this year. I went to sdcc a couple years back when they had the batman 7"s and waiting in line to buy these takes away from going to other areas of the convention, missing drops or signings. So time is money. There is a few groups in facebook that people would pick these up for you as a vinyl buddy, and you just pay cost and shipping and give them a tip for doing so.
Winn
The thing i don't understand is where the 1st seller gets the idea for the price? Why not stop there, they really should think bigger and charge say $1000, why not $5000 if its such a MUST HAVE item. The best thing you can do is not get sucked into the "i must have it" mentality, accept that it exists and move on and be happy in the knowledge that your not a dick like this guy.
lucky kitten
Any news on this getting a reissue? Seems like the only Carpenter soundtrack that hasn't received the glamorous reissue treatment yet.
Cktiell
I know. In my opinion one of the better. Whats the holdup on a vinyl reissue?
Hǻrley Quinn
I only own the cassette version of this release but tracks are all the same. A brilliant soundtrack with it's memorable themes whilst keeping up with our heroes on their eclectic quests from Chinatown to underground sewers, to intergalactic kung fu fights etc, yet retaining a sentimentality to the moods of the scenes & the plights of it's heroes. Whether it's Lo Pan's Domain (a beautiful, wistful & oriental composition) or the madness of Escape From Wing Kong. Carpenter has carved up one of his all time great haunting scores with this one. Some really memorable sounds make it listenable without knowing the film at all, yet compliments it perfectly. A classicly under-rated movie of it's time & a classic electronic score which helped my movement into electronic music definitely when i was 15. All good. Thanks Mr Carpenter "It's on the reflexes!" :)
